I did dress up this year but I was having a major bad hair day. I was a Denver Nuggets basketball player but my rubber Afro just didn't make it into any pictures, on purpose!

Happy Halloween!
Meet Jack!
The Fireman and His Princesses!
He had a Halloween party and it just so happened to be my turn as the helper. They made a scarecrow, decorated sugar cookies, carved a pumpkin, sang Halloween songs, played "don't eat the pumpkin", read Halloween stories, pin the nose on the pumpkin, and trick-or-treated each other. What fun!
Pomegranate Tradition!
I'm becoming my mom...and believe it or not..I like it! Her least favorite holiday (you would never know it because she always made it so FUN) has always been Halloween and it's because of her STRONG dislike of sugar overindulgence. She has been known to throw away handfuls of precious candy while the kiddies were off to bed.We always had a delicious bowl of hamburger vegetable soup and a piece of whole wheat toast EVERY year before we were off on our trick or treating adventures. It gave her peace of mind to know we had something healthy in our little bodies.
This morning she brought over a juicy, scarlet red pomegranate- full of delicious rubies- each one stocked to the brim with antioxidants. She told Nathan he could eat it ALL day and that every year on Halloween, Mammy would deliver this little prize.
Now, this year, I'm already scheming little plans of happiness- ways to dispose of all the sugary treats and what healthy meal packed full of vitamins will I be making for my family this year? Perhaps a yummy bowl of veggie soup and whole wheat toast!

Stink Bug on Turbo!
Nathanisms!

During FHE we were playing a game about things that are "true" or "not true". I said, "Milk comes from chickens." Nathan very matter of factly said, "NOT TRUE! Milk comes from the refrigerator!"
I had a meeting the other night that required "Sunday dress". After carefully selecting my ensemble and sprucing myself up a bit I walked out of the room where Nathan was standing. His eyes lit up like the forth of July. He very excitedly said, "Mom, is that your Halloween costume?!"

Pickin' Pumpkins in the Pumpkin Patch!
Nathan got to be the official pumpkin picker this year and loved every minute! He wants to sleep with all his pumpkins every night. Luckily we have been wining those battles but lost the one about how yummy a raw pumpkin tastes!

The Squish!

I wanted to take a minute and jot some "Kendall" things down for journaling purposes:
At one year he weighs: 24lbs 14oz
He is 30 3/4 inches tall
He still falls asleep in my arms 1-3 times a day
He loves a good walk
He has a ridiculous attachment to his Mammy
He goes crazy when he sees horses, even a merry-go-round or carousel he flaps his arms uncontrollably
He loves to wake Nathan with a kiss and a snuggle
He loves bar-b-que chicken
He can sit in a swing for hours
He still prefers a good hip to the floor
He loves a good bubble bath and prefers it with Nathan
After 1084 graham crackers, he finally got sick of them
He melts my heart when he says mommy
He prefers to do his stink bug crawl even though he knows how to walk
I can't help but kiss his "cry" face because 9 times out of 10 he is faking

Prayer Warriors Needed!
I just received news from the Doctor that one of the nodules may be malignant. Therefore, the left side of my thyroid has to be removed for further testing.
I feel very hopeful that everything is going to be okay, it's just a little scary.

Pending....
Well the Hillan Family has hit a bit of a rough patch these last couple of weeks. Both boys have been sick, Justin stressed to the max, and Alisa dabbling into the medical field more than she would like.
It started about a month ago. I was having these terrible headaches that would tingle up my shoulders and into my head. After massages, several chiropractor visits, and visits to the doctor, they decided to run some tests. Blood work, 2 MRI's, and an ultrasound led to this: I have three nodules on my thyroid. Not at all what they were speculating.
Yes, I'm the girl who likes to take worrying to a whole new level. Not proud of the fact but true it is. They ended up having to do a biopsy on each of the nodules and at this time we are awaiting the results. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared but through this experience I have learned that we are never alone! My testimony of the Savior has been strengthened more than I could ever imagine! I feel so humble to have such great family members and friends and appreciate you letting me lean on you. I love you all!
Tomorrow.... the results!
