LOVE is in the Air!

I love this time of year! Redhots, cinnamon hot chocolate, cozy blankets, heart pancakes, and adopted from Stacey, "Show Love Week!" You draw someone's name in the family and you do secret things for them. Each day of the week is someone's "day." You get to make your favorite dinner, listen to your favorite music, make a fun treat, do a project, etc.... This week we put a little spin on conversation hearts. You sew three hearts together up the middle and then fill them with qualities you love about that person. The whole family takes turns until everybodys heart is full.

We Thank Thee O God for a Prophet

.
We have so much gratitude for everything he has done for all of us! What an amazing legacy he has left behind! We will miss you! I bet he is SO happy to be with his sweet little Marjorie!

This is my favorite quote from President Hinkley:
"Things work out. It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It will all work out. If you do your best, it will all work out. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us... If we will put our trust in Him, if we pray to Him, if we live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."
Gordon B. Hinkley

Manna from Heaven!

My Aunt Cindi made this for us and it is AWESOME for breakfast and dessert. It's definitely worth breaking your diet for. (Sara help- I still can't post on Delectable Dishes!)

Crème Caramel French Toast

2 Tbls corn syrup
1 c brown sugar
½ c butter
one loaf of uncut bakery white and cut it into Texas sized pieces
6 eggs
2 c milk
2 c light cream
1/3 c sugar
1 Tbls vanilla
½ tsp salt
Sour Cream

In a saucepan, combine the corn syrup, brown sugar and butter. Melt until smooth and bubbly. Spread in the bottom of a 9x13 inch glass baking dish. Overlap the bread like dominoes on the syrup. In a large bowl, combine the eggs, milk, light cream, sugar, vanilla and salt. Pour the mixture over the bread. Refrigerate the mixture overnight. (Don’t be concerned about the extra liquid in the dish: it bakes up like a custard) Bake COVERED in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes, then add TOPPING and bake UNCOVERED for 15 minutes more. The toast should be puffed and golden. Cut into 8 pieces and invert to serve. Top each piece with 2 Tbls or less of sour cream and accompany with fresh berries or a raspberry or cranberry sauce.

TOPPING:

½ c. brown sugar, ½ c. chopped pecans, 1 c. cornflakes crushed, ¾ cube butter melted mixed together and add to top.

Justin and Todd's Days of Flying Have Begun!

Justin and Todd having fun with their "wild" sides. I can't explain how funny their faces were! They were trying so hard to get their technique down while the wind was ripping at 100+ mph. Apparently skydiving and Mexican food DO mix because they were able to keep their Costa Vida burritos down effortlessly. Nice job boys!

("Dumb and Dumber" wink, wink.)

Mr. Giggles!

Photo and video editing at www.OneTrueMedia.com

This is Kendall pretty much everyday. He's always up for a good laugh and snort. Please ignore the "baby talk." The things we do as parents to get a laugh out of our kids!

Snowman Sandwiches and Popcorn!

We got a popcorn popper for Christmas and Nathan thinks it's magic how corn kernels turn into big fluffy pieces of popcorn! It was after he ate major amounts that I realized he hadn't had any dinner. Snowman sandwiches to the rescue! It's just a plain old sandwich cut up and stacked but he thinks it's so fun and of course it tastes better too!

Oh Honestly!

If anyone has any expertise in this area, please do share! You would think our nights would be oh so wonderful with all the many hours of deep sleep we are getting. Quite the contrary! Now that Kendall has managed to get in some what of a routine, (he still thinks he needs 2-3 snacks every night), our sweet little Nathan cries out about 3-4 times a night that there are "Hammers" on his window and "Fudgers" in his room that go PSST, PSST. First of all, I can't figure out what a Fudger is for the life of me and second I really do feel bad because this is actually real to Nathan and he so scared that his 3 million stuffed animals in his bed doesn't cut it. He wants mom or dad to sleep with him -and because Kendall likes snacks, it's usually dad to the rescue. So, at the end of the day, Justin and I walk around with massive bags and dark rings around our eyes, proclaiming that yes we really do love our kids and get to look forward to the series of events that repeat itself every night. Cheers! BTW- this picture only took 3 sucker bribes, -someting I swore I would never do- bribes and sugar! AHHHHHHHH!

2007 Highlights

I did a little interview for FHE. Here are the results in random order:

JUSTIN:
Harry Potter book 7, learning how to wake board, the birth of my 2nd man child, going to India and Canada, my wife's cooking (ya right!), Christmas vacation, swimming parties with the fam, playing football at the park with Nathan, eating really good Mexican food

ALISA:
having a new addition in our family, Lake Powell, date nights, family walks on summer evenings, eating Lucky Charms with Nathan, warm apple cider, little boys that smell so good you could eat em, family slumber parties, fitting into my jeans again, learning how to ice skate, getting Kendall when he wakes up from a nap

NATHAN:
Chick-fil-a, learning how to ride a bike, seeing monkeys eat salad at the zoo, my automatic spinning toothbrush, the teeter toter with dad, all my grandparents, GG, and Aunt Cindi, giving Kendall kisses, watching Sesame Street in my Elmo chair, makings treats with mom and licking the beaters, sleeping in a big boy bed, meeting Uncle Todd

Puking, Diarrhea, and Santa Clause

While most families spread lots of holiday cheer, ours likes to bump it up a notch and spread a bit of the flu! There's nothing more bonding! Oh boy, let me tell you... What a delight it was to be at the Cardon home for Christmas! I'll be positive and tell you the highlights. In between us hacking up a bone and constant trips to the bathroom we did have a memorable time. It's so fun to have kids old enough to finally understand Santa Clause. It is so MAGICAL. Sprinkling the reindeer food on the lawn (thanks Aunt Jeri), making sugar cookies, dancing to "guitar music", Christmas parties, Fondue, Aunt Cindi's YUMMY breakfast, a white Christmas morning, cousin bear hugs, shopping, movies, Christmas rap songs, Aunts and Uncles, Mamie's wedding and "the dance", pedicures, pizza with the cousins, and having Doug, Sara, Tanner, and Jake here.

Christmas Eve Jammies

Three Months!

Kendall turned three months on Christmas eve. I really can't believe it. Time has gone by so FAST! I have enjoyed every minute with this little guy (18lbs). He is such a HAPPY baby.He loves to be nibbled on. He has lots of smiles and plenty of giggles to go around.
