We Got Us A Few Fish!

This was Kendall's first time at the pool. He LOVED the water! Justin kept telling him it was like a big giant bathtub. He stayed in and splashed around for an hour!

Yep, I don't think Nathan is going anywhere! That's right. Safety comes first at our house. Right! How is he ever going to learn how to swim? He insists on wearing his"gear." I'm sure it's just a phase!:) You could not sink the kid if you tried. Kendall cracks me up in this picture. He looks like one of the lollipop kids from the Wizard of Oz!

Our Main Goal Today....

is to wear Nathan out! It seems these days Nathan has a TEENY TINY bit of extra energy stored up and I would give my prized cookbook for 1/8 of it! We went for a picnic at the park and after- we ran him. Literaly. There is a path that goes around the lake and we just let him go. Of course in between running he had to stop and feed the ducks, look at the pelicans, and pick every dandelion from here to China! When we got home he took a bath and fell fast asleep! Mission accomplished!

Some Mothers' Days are Great, Others Fantastic...

but not this one.
Preface:
After a night of pure exhaustion, I'm talking up all night up with a teething baby in pain, I finally asked Justin to rock Kendall at 5:30am. Immediately he of course falls asleep for HIM! Wow, I must be mother of the year! I only tell this part so you will understand how things seem out of control for a sleep deprived mother.
Yes, I'm the idiot who chose to sacrifice my feet for some "kinda cute" but not "fabulously cute" shoes that maybe you could actually reason sacrificing your feet for. It's time for church and as we proudly proclaim our seats in the dead back, (with great reason of course), Kendall starts fussing because he might be a LITTLE tired from the nights events that took place. Justin takes him out so that I can enjoy the talks and get some doting on how wonderful of a mom I must be. Nathan has a relapse and throws himself on the ground with his sippy cup flying into the metal chair. Did I mention it's very loud? I drag him out so that I can proceed to discipline him in a very sweet motherly fashion all the while my blisters start to form on my feet. Back in we go, and back out we are for a total of three times. Mind you I'm hearing as I leave, "I have so much admiration for you young mothers...." Wait, I have to leave during the best part just when it was getting REALLY good!
On this beautiful May day, I'm just positive there are absolutely no germs in the nursery so I take Nathan on in. He then began to cry like the little animal that he turned into when we were at the dentist. Nursery was not going to be an option today. Nathan goes with dad because I'm supposed to conduct. I get Kendall from Justin and nurse him in the mothers lounge noticing on the way back Kendall dropped some toys. I give Kendall to Justin because I decided with out a 24 pound baby my blisters will bleed less. When I return two maybe three minutes later I ask Justin in my most cheerful, patient voice, "Where is Nathan?" I grab Kendall from Justin and he goes out one door, I go out another and our search for Nathan is on. After TEN minutes of searching, praying, crying and shoes full of blood, I go to call off priesthood. As I'm about to enter the room, a very disgusted looking woman asks me if I seen my son wandering the halls! (And who knows for how long.) I ran up to Nathan who was shuffling around as fast as he could because his pants AND underwear were around his ankles and his belt around his neck. He is sopping wet and reeks of urine and I just happened to be siting next to the counselor who has a gag reflux. We didn't know if we should kill him or pick him up and swing him around. Happy Mothers Day for I'm sure next year it will be the perfect one I'm so longing for!:) Now, why would I think to take my shoes off you ask? I have no idea! AHHHHHHH!

The Chocolate Festival!

My favorite part about 30,000 square feet of chocolate was this: Denise Nickerson, who played Violet Beauregard on Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. She was the girl who turned into a blueberry. I loved hearing her talk about the movie and how she got the part. She is so tiny! We ate lots of yummy chocolate and discovered that the cinnamon, chocolate covered almond by Dove was our absolute favorite!

Reptile Expo!

The scariest part of Nathan being so close to hundreds of exotic reptiles was how much he loved it. He just stared at each snake, turtle, frog, lizard and whatever else was there. He wanted to hold and touch everything he saw. Yikes! And then there was the 18 foot 90 pound python. He had to think long and hard about touching it. We heard some scary stories at this place about some of the snakes that made me confirm that I never want to be the proud owner of one!

A Pink Lemonade Tea Party!

A girl in my ward mentioned that she was going to do a pink lemonade tea party for her little girl and since I just have all these boys, I thought it would be fun to do one for my favorite girls for Mothers' day! It's so fun to let loose and be a girl with frills and pink ribbons! I got to use my Great Grandma Massey's china and learned how to make jewelry out of money. Justin joined the festivities by giving our mom's a foot massage instead of going to his championship basketball game. No, I didn't even have to bribe him.:) We feel very lucky to have both our moms here and don't know what we would do without them. (Well actually, I DO know what we would do. We would move wherever they lived! :))

The Cats Meow!

Another year, another wonderful celebration! Grandpa turned 40! It must be all those delicious ice cream cakes he always gets! Grandma sure knows how to celebrate a birthday in style! She treated him to a facial and a deep tissue massage. You can see he just glows, literally!

Baby Blues!

Eyes that is! We can't figure out how we got a blue eyed baby! We keep waiting for Kendall's eyes to change to brown but they keep getting bluer. I think it might have something to do with Grandad or GG because they are the only ones with blue eyes on either side of the family. I still think they might get darker as he gets older so we will see, but for now we'll just enjoy.

A Special Visitor!

GG came to Littleton to spend the week! It was seriously one of the funnest weeks I've had in a long time! It was jam packed and full of fun and surprises! Tours of the candy factory, the quilting festival, lunch at the Market, ice cream cones and parks, the Bemis Library, walks through The Gardens, the Paris street market, gourmet food stores, movies, sewing lessons, chats on the deck, reminiscing, and laughing until our stomachs were sore! Of course the week wouldn't be complete without a four generation picture!

A Walk Through the Cherry Blossoms.

Nathan was GG's baby duck. He followed her around everywhere! I think he was just trying to soak her all in since he doesn't get to see her much!

PANCAKES!

One of my favorites memories when I was a little girl was when I would spend the night at Gram's house with Kami. It was so hard to go to sleep after Gram would tell us that in the morning we were going to get to go to Murphy's Mule Barn. Now for those of you who don't know about Murphy's Mule Barn, let me tell you. This isn't just your ordinary mule barn. In fact is vary far from anything ordinary. It's a mule barn turned into a truck stop. The very best one I've ever been to, (okay, it's the only one I've ever been to- but it was SO cool, especially to a little kid). The pancakes were literally as big around as the plate. They had to be, to feed the hungry truckers. We got to order blueberry pancakes with an ice cream scoop of butter in the middle smothered in warm maple syrup. They always came out steamy and you could smell them cooking in the kitchen! The truckers would always laugh at us because when our order came out our eyes were almost as wide as the plate of pancakes itself!

I love traditions SO much, you can only imagine how excited I was when GG said that in the morning we were going to get to go out for pancakes. Now Nathan is just beginning to get a taste of how much fun pancakes with GG really is!

Resemblance?

What do you think? We think Kendall really favors my mom's side of the family, especially GG. You can really tell in her pictures when she is a little girl.

Merry May!

This was yesterday: Mid 80's
Capri's, flip flops, sunglasses, sunscreen ,walks
through the blossoms and a mint
chocolate chip ice cream cone from Baskin Robins!

This is today: Low 40's & 30's
Penseys Hot Chocolate, the heater blowing throughout
the house, warm blankets out of the dryer, snuggling
on the couch with the boys watching the snow fall, again.
Welcome to the weather of Littleton, Colorado!

Claire and Hannah Withdrawls!

This past weekend we took a quick trip down to see Justin's brother, Jimmy and his family . I forgot my camera so we had to use Justin's phone to capture a few moments. I don't think Nathan slowed down for one minute- except for a lap movie!:). The kids played so hard that at night when Nathan would take a bath, he left a nice mud ring around their tub. (Sorry, I tried to scrub it off!) Thanks for the great weekend getaway!
