How does a dentist examine a screaming 2 (almost 3) year old 's teeth? Very Carefully! In fact, this dentist should receive an award. I was so excited to take Nathan to his first dentist appointment. We have been talking about it for a few weeks and the big day finally arrived! I had my camera in one hand, Kendall in another, Nathan at my side, the diaper bag packed full of snacks, books, sippy cups and other distractions. That, I carried with my third hand, and with my forth hand I carried Nathan's coat, Kendall's 500 blankets, and the 4 forms I was to have completed upon arrival. When we arrive to the "children's dentist office" I notice my sweet little unpotty trained boy has a big prize in his pants. I ask the receptionist where the restroom is to change a diaper and she points to one across the hall. I walk in (I'm still caring every belonging that we own) , and realize that this is just your basic, dirty restroom. Yes, the one that has no possible place to change a diaper except on the floor in one of the stalls. Nice! I take out every paper (including the 4 forms I had to bring) tissue, and wet wipe I could find to create a barrier on the floor. Victory! We then head back into to office and proceed into the exam room. Nathan started to panic. No, he turned into an animal. The kind that are fast, huge, scary, and shake a lot. After a lot of talking and CRYING (which lasted an entire hour) Nathan finally let the dentist take a look. He then bit her finger- HARD! He got in trouble and I was SO embarrassed. Needless to say, I was unable to snap a few shots with the camera.We did receive a tender mercy as Kendall slept the entire time. By the end of our visit, Nathan's face was almost swollen shut but he did get a pink toothbrush, a pink car, pink dental floss, and two stickers which he picked out all by himself. AHHHHHHHH!
