Life is Simple Again!

This is what has been occupying my every spare minute. It's been fun but I'm glad it's over! We just finished our primary quarterly activity and because I still don't quite know what I'm doing I'm glad I got my turn out of the way. This is for journaling purposes so you don't have to read this post. Our theme this year is "I am a child of God." We broke down the song and adapted some from sugardoodle. This is what we did:

I am a child of God.
Each child decorated a crown to represent their royal linage.

He has given me an earthly home.
The kids made "houses" out of graham crackers and frosting.

Lead me, guide me , walk beside me.
The kids went through a blind folded obstacle course, listening to Justin's voice to get them through. Teach me all that I must do to live with him someday.
Each child put together a FHE kit so that they could "teach" their family.

This is a picture of the bulletin board that I put up in the primary room. This was a blast to make! I interviewed each child and asked them, "What is a child of God?" The answers were hilarious!

It's Going to be a LONG Time....

before I actually forget this week! It all started when I noticed that the kids might be coming down with something. That night it escalated and we were dodging trips to the emergency room left and right with Kendall. I was on the phone with doctors from the children's hospital all night because Kendall wasn't breathing. Turns out he had a nasty case of Stridor and Croup. Let me tell ya people, if you have never experienced this before, it's about the SCARIEST thing out there! Steam treatments to follow all night for 3 more nights.

Note: my new bedtime- 5:30 am for multiple nights!

So as you might imagine, I had been going throughout the day having an "out of body" experience-so tired! That's when I heard Nathan screaming and saw that his hands were full of blood! After wiping them off, way more blood was streaming from his mouth, (there was so much blood that this would have made a vampire very, very happy- in fact, he would have been elated! ) I was trying to figure out why there would be this much blood if he bit his tongue and that's when I noticed the bloody TOENAIL CLIPPERS on the floor! Oh, please tell it's not what I'm thinking! It is. He had two DEEP slits in the meat of his tongue.

Note: fainting is not an option at the moment!

Turns out that when the bleeding did stop (an eternity later), there is nothing you can do for a tongue wound and the more it bleeds, the more germs you flush out, (which is a good thing because the last place those clippers touched was Justin's juicy big toe!:))
With the bad must come the good? Yes, and on that note I'm happy to announce that Nathan is potty trained! (another story!)
Were still going private so if you want leave your email address we will add you to the list.

A Little Twist for Dinner!

I wanted to play trick on the guys for April Fools so I told them we were having burgers and fries for dinner. We ate a few and then had a healthy "real dinner". The fries are bread sticks rolled in sugar and the ketchup is raspberry jam. Hope everyone has a happy April!

*The burgers are Nilla Wafers, peppermint patties, colored frosting, and coconut with green food coloring.

Sushi Adventure!

Justin LOVES sushi and I have never been able to get past my mental block that I was eating raw fish that used to have eyes and not to mention a bit of a slimy texture. So I decided to be brave and completely shock Justin. Off we went to this cute little place called "The Sushi Bay". My inner self wanted to impress Justin and so I just went for it. His eyes just about fell out of his head. By the end of our outing, I decided that I really DO like sushi. It was really fun to try something new. And I hate to admit it but I kind of got an adrenaline rush from it. I really must not get out much:)!

The Things He Says...

"Hey mom, I need to go potty..... Are you SO excited?!

My cute Aunt Cindi got Nathan two little goldfish for his birthday. The next morning when we woke up, "Goldie Boy" did not make it through the night. We took out the fish before Nathan woke up and when he went to greet his fish he noticed one was gone. "Don't worry, he said. Goldie Boy went on vacation. He'll be back later." Needless to say, we went running to the pet store and surprise, there was Goldie Boy back from the tropics!

Good to Know.

You Only Turn 3 Once!

I told Nathan he could have anything he wanted for his birthday breakfast and after a LONG pondering session (food is really important to him:)) he choose raspberry cobbler and ice cream. This is him making a wish before he blew out the candles.
Whenever I am in the kitchen fixing dinner, baking or whatever, I can usually count on my baby duck to be there standing on his potty chair (then at least it gets used) eager to assist and get his hands messy. He was helping me make his "black cake". Quack, quack!

Happy Birthday Nathan James! It was really funny to watch him open presents this year. Instead of blowing through them, we had to entice him with the next one because he was too interested in the one he just opened. A BIG thank you to everybody who helped make this day special!

Rice Cereal...Yucky, Yucky!

Apparently, we don't like rice cereal at the Hillan residence! Kendall got a bad tummy ache and that gave the opposite effect as he was supposed to sleep soundly and deeply in a restfull state. Poor guy! What an amazing adventure it has been these last six months. I could just eat this baby- with a little ranch dressing!
